So tell me about the map…

The world map is split into 13 land regions and 15 ocean regions, with a total of 83 countries/territories that are highlighted in the game. Managing the balance between playability, reality and ethical implications to include different countries was incredibly difficult. Generally, I defaulted to overall power of the countries and their influence on world politics, with strong preference for projections of future economic and demographic growth.

The countries are collected in regions and connected with each other based on geographic, climate, and socio-political histories.  The ocean regions which border various countries are based on their geography, and are impactful in the game primarily through the use of military tokens.

Each country is given a starting power value, which ranges from 1-5. This power value represents that country’s influence and relative power on the world stage at the beginning of the game. These can change however, through regional events, global growth, and certain player actions.

Countries will rise and fall in their power throughout the game, and no single game is the same!
